Recupero e trasformazione di un antico borgo agricolo in una delle prime gated community italiane, esempio di integrazione tra tutela storico-artistica e residenzialità contemporanea. Restoration and conversion of an ancient rural hamlet into one of Italy’s first gated communities, an example of integration between historical-heritage protection and contemporary living.
È l'unica sopravvissuta alle guerre delle 7 fattorie fortificate fondata nel XIII secolo dai monaci Cistercensi dell'abbazia di Chiaravalle. It is the only surviving one of the seven fortified farmsteads, founded in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks of the Chiaravalle Abbey.
L'esistenza del borgo è attestata nel 1086, come possesso della famiglia De Villiono, e nel 1240 come castrum, che passò in proprietà dell'abbazia di Chiaravalle e ne divenne una grangia. The hamlet is documented in 1086 as a possession of the De Villiono family and, in 1240, as a castrum, later transferred to the Chiaravalle Abbey, becoming one of its granges.
Fu comune autonomo fino al 1725, quando venne annesso a Basiglio. It remained an autonomous municipality until 1725, when it was annexed to Basiglio.
Dopo decenni di abbandono e degrado ha ripreso corpo dopo essere stata acquistata dalla società immobiliare Residenze Vione guidata dall'Arch. Danilo Doronzo che, dopo averla acquistata, ha eseguito i lavori di ristrutturazione iniziati nel 2008, trasformando così il borgo nella prima gated community italiana. After decades of abandonment and decay, it took shape again after being acquired by the real-estate company Residenze Vione, led by Architect Danilo Doronzo who, after the purchase, carried out renovation works started in 2008, thus transforming the hamlet into Italy’s first gated community.
Sono stati ricavati circa 250 appartamenti con finiture e giardini di altissimo livello e con tecnologie modernissime nel campo dell'elettronica, del risparmio di energia e della sicurezza, pur conservando intatto il sapore antico degli edifici storici. Around 250 apartments were created, with top-level finishes and private gardens, featuring cutting-edge technologies in electronics, energy saving and security—while preserving the authentic character of the historic buildings.
Passeggiando al suo interno possiamo ancora scoprire i segni di antichi carri impressi sulle soglie di due portali del Settecento, che raccontano viaggi, scambi, fiere e mercati, orme di un passato di monaci, contadini e viandanti in viaggio da Pavia a Milano. Questo luogo storico è tutelato dallo Stato Italiano sia da un punto di vista artistico che come bene architettonico e monumentale nel suo insieme. Walking through the village, you can still see the marks of ancient carts impressed on the thresholds of two 18th-century portals, telling stories of travel, exchanges, fairs and markets—traces of a past made of monks, farmers and travelers on the route from Pavia to Milan. This historic place is protected by the Italian State both for its artistic value and as an architectural and monumental heritage as a whole.
